Included in your admission
Discover the natural wealth and fauna of Quintana Roo during your visit to Xcaret and find diverse species representative of the region. Have fun at the best eco park in Playa del Carmen.
FLAMINGOS
Flamingos are very colorful birds that will enchant you with their bright pink wings, long legs, and slender necks. The country’s southeast is one of their primary nesting areas, so Xcaret, Mexico's Majestic Paradise, is the perfect habitat.
Our experts collaborate with institutions such as La Fundación Pedro y Elena A.C., who share their knowledge and experience in bird banding. This practice contributes significantly to the monitoring of wildlife species.
Admire them at the entrance, the subway rivers’ exit, and in the beach area. If you are lucky, some days it is possible to see them walking in the park.
MONKEY ISLAND
Reach this island through the jungle trails, where you will find the habitat of the spider and the howler monkey, both endangered species. These Xcaret residents enjoy their day performing acrobatics, but they also enjoy naps in the shade. Join us in our work to protect their habitat and maintain environmental balance!
BAT CAVE
Bats, contrary to widespread belief, are a harmless species. You will find this enigmatic cave near the lagoon, home to many bats. These specimens are indispensable to the environmental balance because, in nature, they disperse seeds, control pests, and pollinate flowers. At night, they come out to feed on fruits and insects, and during the day, they enjoy the coolness and darkness of their cave.
Enter their cave and find them hanging between cracks and holes because they are nocturnal. Just remember to stay quiet so they sleep at ease!
DEER REFUGE
Deer are crucial in this area that the Yucatan Peninsula is called 'The Land of the Pheasant and the Deer.' They symbolize the biological richness of the southeast, and at Xcaret, we are proud to preserve them as our most important guests. Get to know them up close!
TAPIR TERRITORY
Get close to the refuge of the friendly tapirs, which are typical species of this region that are in danger of extinction.
This species is one of the few that has maintained the same physical appearance for millions of years. What will attract your attention the most is its snout, like a small trunk. Thanks to it, it easily perceives the smells of its environment and if you see them eating, you will be able to appreciate that it serves as a hand, with which it takes the fruit to put it in its mouth.
We have collaborated closely with the Colegio de la Frontera Sur ECOSUR, who work arduously in conserving this species in the wild.
