On March the 13th, during the awards ceremony of Socially Responsible Corporations, Parque Xcaret received the recognition from the Centro Mexicano para la Filantropia (Cemefi, Mexican Center of Philantropy) and from the Alianza por la Responsabilidad Social Empresarial en Mexico (AliaRSE, Alliance for Corporate Social Responsibility in Mexico), for the fifth time in a row.

The ESR distinction, the first one of its kind in Latin America, is a graphic identifier with the purpose of promoting Corporate Social Responsibility (Spanish acronym RSE) by establishing and spreading behavioral standards for corporations. In order to obtain it, they undergo a process of self-evaluation, validated by a committee of specialists from AliaRSE. The self-diagnostic is made up of 120 criteria of which the companies have to satisfactorily meet 75% to receive it.

For the first time, the Awards Ceremony of the ESR Distinction adopted a theme related not only to the corporation’s purpose but also to the culture of citizenship. In 2008, using as a reference the Objectives of the Millennia, the ceremony’s theme was “Water, the blue gold.”

The guest speaker was Guilherme Pelrao Leal, Co-President of the Board of Natura, a Brazilian company leading in the cosmetics industry and exemplary in the subject of social responsibility. He explained his vision and the successful experience of this company in Latin America.

According to Architect Miguel Quintana Pali, President of the Administrative Council of Grupo Xcaret, “being recognized as a Socially Responsible Corporation, is an honor and a great commitment to maintaining quality standards for our customers and for other people in contact with Parque Xcaret. We consider that the human factor has been an important key in the development of our organization and upon achieving our goals of sustainability.”
