    Mayan Village - Cultura Maya

Xcaret opens the doors so you can walk into Mayan daily life and invites you to travel through time visiting a replica of a Mayan Village.

There, you will be able to witness to how common people lived at the time when the extraordinary Mayan civilization inhabited this land.

As in all ancient cities, Mayan people lived in the outskirts while its center was exclusive for palaces and temples.

The beautiful replicas of the Mayan houses at Xcaret show you their circular architecture. Wood and palm leaf roofs were the key elements in construction in order to keep the buildings cool all year round.

The magical attraction of Mayan customs and traditions can be experienced through the work of their craftsmen and weavers.

Dressed in the traditional attire, they will show you their creativity as they carve animals and god shapes in wood or make beautiful crafts the way they learned from their ancestors.

A canoe floats through the water loaded with fruit and food. Mayan women make tortillas out of corn, the Mayans main and sacred to them. An ancient altar, a fountain, and a Mayan mirror are also some of the important elements in this wonderful journey through the living history of the Mayan people.
