Nursery
Visit the home of 270 species of plants
Included in your admission
The Nursery is an exceptional, magical place at Xel-Há. It is one of our native plant conservation projects, including some endangered varieties. The plants at the Xel-Há Nursery are ancestral, many of them were very useful for the native culture hundreds of years ago and their use persists among inhabitants of several rural communities throughout the Yucatan Peninsula.
In this open-air botanical garden within the Natural Wonder of Xel-Há, you can find 270 different species of plants. The park is committed to preserving resources and relocating specimens to reduce environmental impact. Due to urban development and overexploitation of some plant species, we look to take special care of those in danger of extinction. Part of Xel-Há's efforts focuses on relocating plants to some sites in the jungle on the park grounds. Additionally, inside the Nursery is a replica of authentic Pre-Hispanic village constructions, where you can take photos and learn.
